We are expanding our team and looking for an ambitious data architect to join our team build the foundation and standards research data management platform.

Your new team
As our new data architect you will get the opportunity to join a team of highly skilled and passionate people working on streamlining the acquisition and transformation of our research data, while ensuring their data integrity and security.

Research Data Management is one of two teams in the Digital Science Solutions Department, which focuses primarily on establishing our data management capabilities, whereas other team System and Applications responsible for managing our internal IT systems and applications used in research. Combined, we are a dynamic and diverse team of 10 dedicated employees with competencies within both IT and bioscience. Together with the other areas in Digital Innovation, we continuously work on advancing data- and knowledge-driven new product development to bring about smarter innovations, faster. Our mission is to drive a digital mindset throughout our value chain and secure the usage of the newest technology trends in developing novel or improved products.

We partner with the other R&D and Application functions and Global IT to strengthen our digital research platform by developing, implementing, scaling and operating data-oriented digital science solutions.

Your future tasks will include
Your main responsibility as data architect will be to lead, design and develop our future research data management platform that is in line with our core research processes, defining the core data infrastructure required to support the use of our data products to make data and knowledge driven decisions.

Further you will:
  • Design and establish a scalable data architecture supporting our business requirements for core research data and data products
  • Optimize how research datafrom various systems is stored, improve integrations and make analytics platforms more efficient
  • Guide the data scientists and analytics teams to access and utilize the data
  • Define and manage standards, guidelines and processes to improve data storage and accessibility
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in research departments and in IT, Data Scientists, internal Digital Product Owners and Project Managers as well as other external and internal experts and developers
  • Apply architecture frameworks to shape our solutions and understand dependencies of technologies in a vast and complex environment always being on top of the newest technologies
  • Document and manage the life cycle management of delivered solutions

Who are we looking for?
You have a background within IT e.g. computer science and have worked within bioscience field for some years or a bioinformatician with +2 years of data architect and/or data management experience. A proven track record within R&D, preferably within Bioscience processes is a prerequisite.

Further, you have:
  • Experience with designing and modeling of modern data architectures (such as e.g. data fabrics, data lake houses)
  • Fluent in SQL, with experience of database development and administration, as well as other data storage technologies
  • Understand the advantages and limitations data traffic in on-prem systems and cloud solutions . Experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory is a plus
  • Knowledge of managing infrastructure as code (IaC)
  • Basic knowledge of Linux system administration
  • Understands and have experience with ETL/ELT tools and life cycle management
  • FAIR data principles as part of your standards


As a person, you have good drive, open for new inputs and are not afraid to set a direction and give recommendations in a complex environment. You are good at making new peer relations, gaining a good business understanding and translate your insights into a scalable data infrastructure. You are smart, curious and a quick learner who enjoys working in an informal atmosphere.


You have good interpersonal and communication skills and thrive in an environment with a diverse stakeholder group.
